In addition to the 1098-T, your personal financial records may serve as official supporting documentation for your federal income tax return. Due to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) we can only answer specific questions about an account or 1098-T for the account holder (student).

What is the form 1098-T?

Form 1098-T is an annual IRS form completed by UCSC as required by the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997, which is furnished to students to assist them in the preparation of their annual income tax returns. The IRS Form 1098-T Tuition Statement is used to assist the taxpayer in determining eligibility for an educational tax credit and/or deduction. The form summarizes qualified tuition and related expenses for a calendar year. Your 1098-T forms are prepared for UCSC by our vendor TCRS.

Your yearly 1098-T form will be accessible by the end of January

The University of California has contracted with the Tax Credit Reporting Service (TCRS) to electronically produce your IRS Form 1098-T Tuition Statement. You will receive an email notification from TCRS when your 1098-T is available online at www.1098T.com. Be sure your spam filter does not capture email from the TCRS domain tcrs@xerox.com. The IRS Form 1098-T Tuition Statement is used to assist the taxpayer in determining eligibility for an educational tax credit and/or deduction.

To obtain your form

1098-T forms are only available electronically - They will NOT be mailed

To obtain your form please go to www.1098T.com and select "Access My Record". You will be required to login to a secure portion of the website to access your individual 1098-T information using your Student ID or Social Security Number. From your student record page you will be able to print the form by selecting "View My 1098-T Tax Form" and choosing print.
